Third Annual Flying Zucchini Café – This Week!

Submitted by on November 17, 2009 – 10:40 amNo Comment

Our third annual Flying Zucchini Café will be held this week on November 18th and 19th. Flying Zucchini Dishing out food at ZucchiniCafé is a two night, student-run restaurant open to family members of Agassiz Baldwin Afterschool. Last year our students served over 200 guests, including the Mayor!

Kindergarten through 5th grade students are involved in every aspect; from helping to design the menu, to cooking and serving the food, to taking all the reservations. Our goal is to create a healthy restaurant, from conception to completion.

This year, we are very excited about adding an eating and buying local component into our curriculum. We will serve fresh food from local businesses and farms and the recipes we will use are based on the availability of local bread, dairy, and in season produce.

Flying Zucchini Café promotes: teamwork, collaboration, nutrition, cooking skills, buying local, physical activity, as well as dining, serving, and cooking etiquette.
