This installation will be debuted on the evening of Spirit Awards. The Spirit Awards is an annual event that celebrates and supports the artistic and educational mission of Maud Morgan Arts: building community through the visual arts by connecting, inspiring and enriching individual lives. This event celebrates the spirit of Maud Morgan, a community resident and artist of exceptional vibrancy, who lived her life deeply in the arts, in her neighborhood and in the world (1903-1999). Once a year the arts community and our supporters gather for a unique evening to honor outstanding individuals who embody the “spirit” of Maud Morgan. This year, we honor Jason Weeks, Executive Director of the Cambridge Arts Council, for his tireless efforts to enliven and enhance the arts for all of Cambridge.

Juror: Annette Lemieux, Senior Lecturer on Visual and Environmental Studies at Harvard University.

In March 2017, Lemieux was awarded the Maud Morgan Prize from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston which honors a Massachusetts woman artist who has demonstrated creativity and vision, and who has made significant contributions to the contemporary arts landscape. As part of the prize, an exhibition of her work will be presented at the MFA in the fall 2017.
