People’s State of the Union 2018

Submitted by on January 25, 2018 – 2:50 pmNo Comment

Democracy is a conversation, not a monologue . . .

Most years, the President delivers a State of the Union Address highlighting the past year and priorities for the coming year. In a year that’s seen more polarizing slogans and soundbites, more demonstrations and heated debates than ever, looking each other in the eye and sharing our stories matters even more than usual. In such moments, being able to cross political divides and remain in dialogue is a worthy challenge.

Join Agassiz Neighborhood Council and Lesley College of Art + Design for a FREE event, developed by the independent art-collective, U.S. Department of Arts and Culture.

Parking is available behind Lesley’s University Hall located at 1815 Mass. Ave. (next door), free metered parking on Sundays!

What’s A Story Circle?
Using a simple structure developed by the U.S. Department of Art and Culture, participants will take part in a story circle –a simple gathering that invites community members to share personal experience, building group wisdom on a particular topic. All ages are welcome, and we hope to have those gathered represent the dynamic diversity of our community.

Following the event and with your permission, your stories will be uploaded to a national database, creating a collection of stories from across the nation.
