Submitted by on October 18, 2018 – 5:30 pmNo Comment

Jess Alvarez is joining us as a freshman from Lesley University. Her major as of now, is Sociology and Social Change, as well as a minor in French. She finds interest in studying different cultures (specifically religion) and comparing them with the mindsets of the United States. With that in mind, she intends, in her career, to focus on the issue of Islamophobia, and to find ways in which she can spread awareness and remove ignorance.

She originates from a small lake community in northern New Jersey known as Hopatcong. In high school she was heavily involved in different school activities and sports: choir, soccer, newspaper, student council, basketball, lit mag, track, and more. In college, she hopes to continue many of these hobbies, especially writing and singing.

At Agassiz Baldwin Community her role rests as Office and Community Organizing Work Study. She is responsible for aiding and assisting in varying projects.
