Sacramento St. Preschool Update

Below please find a message from Andrea Breen, Director of Children’s Programs at Agassiz Baldwin Community.

We are saddened to share that we have made a decision to close Sacramento Street Preschool at the end of the 2018-19 school year (June 18, 2019).

After almost 40 years of providing preschool programming for the community, this decision did not come easily. Over the past few years it has become clear to us that our part-time, part-year schedule no longer meets the current needs of the community and our enrollment has struggled. Statewide, preschool programs are experiencing difficulty finding qualified teachers who meet the specific credentials and coursework required by the Department of Early Education and Care. This has greatly impacted our preschool program as we have had challenges in hiring and retaining qualified staff.

Our commitment to provide quality programming for youth in our community remains as we continue to run programming for school aged youth in our afterschool and Outback summer programs.

We plan to recognize nearly four decades of Sacramento Street Preschool at our Annual Backyard Block Party. Please join us as we celebrate our community on Sunday, June 2nd from 12:00-4:00 PM.
