General Information
The Introducing Art Performance Series for school-age children was
envisioned as a way to bring music, dance, art, and theater to public school students whose exposure to the arts has been greatly limited. The series showcases multi-cultural performers during the school year. Shows are reasonably priced at $2 per child and $5 per family group and offered free to afterschool groups who call ahead to reserve space.
Past performances have included:
- Classic fairy tale puppetry by Tanglewood Marionettes
- Hula dancing with Polynesian Fusion
- Capoeira and drumming with Deraldo Ferreira & The Afro Brazilian Ensemble

Annual Events
Hip Hop Festival
Introducing Art also features the popular Annual Hip Hop Festival every February vacation week. Billed as “an age-appropriate performance of a style of music children love” and “a great way for students from across Cambridge to interact [and] a networking opportunity for young performers,” the Agassiz Baldwin Community Hip Hop Festival is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser. View photos from past performances on our Flickr page.
Theater
In April, Agassiz Baldwin Afterschool children enjoy a show at Wheelock Family Theater or other local theaters. During April Vacation Week this year children will visit the Puppet Showplace Theater.
