Teen Programs
CIT Registration for Outback 2012 is open!
Outback Summer Counselor-in-Training Program
The summer Counselor-in-Training (CIT) Program is open to students entering 7th–9th grades in September 2012.
CITs work under the supervision of Outback teachers and assist staff with daily activities, engage with children during free time and snack/lunch, and complete cleaning/organizing tasks at the beginning and end of their shifts. They are also invited to assist the program for Thursday beach trips.
The most important role of a CIT is to be a positive role model and a leader for Outback children. CITs are an integral part of inspiring Outback students as well as supporting Outback staff. They are paid a small stipend ($75.00) for assisting approximately thirty hours a week for a two-week session and have a pizza party at the end of each session to celebrate their service. Students this year will have the option to work either a morning or an afternoon shift. Session dates and hours are listed on the application.
Each Friday at Outback, the staff votes on the “Wally Cleaver Award” which is given to a CIT who has demonstrated exceptional leadership, responsibility and embodies the spirit of Outback. After the awards ceremony, everyone is invited to play in the CIT vs. staff challenge or sports game. A crowd favorite!
New this year, CITs will have the opportunity to take art classes at the Maud Morgan Art Center located in the backyard of 20 Sacramento Street during the afternoon. CITs can choose to work the morning shift and if they are registered for a Maud Morgan art class they will be excused from their CIT shift at 1pm so that they can go to their class from 1-5:30pm. For more information about the summer art classes and for registration information, please visit Maud Morgan Arts.

Agassiz Baldwin Afterschool Teacher-in-Training Program
The Teacher-in-Training (TNT) program is open for students entering 6th–8th grade in the
fall school year. Similar to our CIT program, the role of a TNT is to be a positive role model and leader to students enrolled in Agassiz Baldwin Afterschool during the academic school year.
TNTs are placed in a position of responsibility and are given a valuable opportunity to develop their leadership qualities, communication, and work skills. They are paid a small stipend ($75.00) for assisting two hours per week for twelve weeks.
TNTs may work during the fall or spring semester. The fall TNT program begins the third week in September and the spring program begins the third week of January.
Applications must be received three weeks prior to the program start date. Applicants will be asked to come in for a brief interview.
For specific questions, please contact Maria Laine, 1-5th Grade Site Director, at mlaine@agassiz.org.
