Interim Director of Maud Morgan Arts Catherine Kernan has assembled a group of twenty-five artists who are well-known in their respective fields and have long records of exhibitions and awards. Many of them hold teaching positions at area institutions.

Featured will be the work of:

• Ceramicists Stephanie Young, Tiffany Playford, Kate Ledogar, and Jameson Copp and ceramic sculptors Allison Newsome, Ann Hirsch, and Bevan Weissman.
• Distinguished sculptor Ann Lilly and Gina Kamentsky, showing kinetic pieces in metal.
• Phyllis Ewen, a mixed media artist whose pieces are also dimensional, and the dimensional prints of Debra Olin.
• Painter/printmakers Heddi Siebel, Randy Garber, Jan Arabas, Wendy Prellwitz, and Boriana Kantcheva, Nancy Popper, and Laura Tangusso.
• Book artists Deborah Davidson and Barbara Fletcher.
• The very different relief prints of Annie Silverman and Adrian Rodriquez.
• Well-known painters Mela Lyman, Bea Modisett, and Raul Gonzalez.

The opening reception will be held on on Monday September 13 from 2:30 to 6:30 PM. Tour the newly constructed Maud Morgan Arts Center, enjoy light refreshments, meet the artists, and learn about the program of classes and events being offered.

Volunteers are needed to help research the details of thirty places of interest, with each person responsible for five.  Our goal is to eventually create a booklet/brochure designed and illustrated by local artists that would also be for sale.

Daily Choices
Daily choices offered by our afterschool teaching staff include arts and crafts, science, cooking, outside and gym activities, and games.  Children may also sign up for classes with our specialist teachers.  Specialist offerings for this fall include:
Mondays:     Taekwondo (K-2 grade)
Tuesdays:     Dance with Sunny Hitt
Wednesdays:     Sports Club and Cooking with Kids
Thursdays:     The Agassiz Players (Drama Club) with Danny Bolton
Fridays:     Taekwondo (both K-2 and 3-5 grade)
Monday to Thursday:     Individual piano or cello lessons with Sarvi Moshfegh

NEW: Maud Morgan Arts Classes
New this year, each child will get to choose one specialized art class per year from our new Maud Morgan Arts offerings. This class will be included in the afterschool tuition. Details will follow soon.

Fay Chandler Gallery presents the first Maud Morgan Arts Faculty Show. The show runs from September 7 to September 23, 2010.

Join us for a special reception for art teachers on Monday, September 13.  Teachers are invited to tour our facility and meet the Maud Morgan Arts faculty from 2:30 to 4:30 pm.

A general reception will be held in the Fay Chandler Gallery that same evening, Monday, September 13, from 4:30 to 6:30 pm.

Gallery hours are from 10 am to 5 pm on weekdays.
