			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Next Monday join us for the opening reception of the <a href="http://agassiz.org/2010/08/mma-faculty-show-opening-september-6/" target="_self">Maud Morgan Arts Faculty Show</a>.  The show, on display now in the newly renamed <a href="http://agassiz.org/maud-morgan-visual-arts-center-programming/fay-chandler-gallery/" target="_self">Fay Chandler Gallery</a>, showcases and  celebrates the impressively talented and experienced artists who will be  teaching at <a href="http://agassiz.org/maud-morgan-visual-arts-center-programming/" target="_self">Maud Morgan Arts</a> for the fall semester.  The show is free and everyone is invited.</p>
<p><a href="http://agassiz.org/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/Faculty-Show-card-front-2010.jpg"><img class="alignright size-medium wp-image-5012" title="Maud Morgan Arts Faculty Show postcard" src="http://agassiz.org/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/Faculty-Show-card-front-2010-213x300.jpg" alt="Maud Morgan Arts Faculty Show postcard" width="158" height="223" /></a>Interim Director of Maud Morgan Arts Catherine Kernan has assembled a group of twenty-five artists who are well-known in their respective fields and have long records of exhibitions and awards. Many of them hold teaching positions at area institutions.</p>
<p>Featured will be the work of:</p>

<li>Ceramicists <a href="http://www.superfishy.com/" target="_blank">Stephanie Young</a>, Tiffany Playford, <a href="http://www.kateledogar.com/" target="_blank">Kate Ledogar</a>, and <a href="http://www.jamesondaviscopp.com/" target="_blank">Jameson Copp</a> and ceramic sculptors Allison Newsome, Ann Hirsch, and <a href="http://www.bevanweissman.com/" target="_blank">Bevan Weissman</a>.</li>
<li>Distinguished sculptor <a href="http://www.annelilly.com/" target="_blank">Ann Lilly</a> and <a href="http://ginakamentsky.com/" target="_blank">Gina Kamentsky</a>, showing kinetic pieces in metal.</li>
<li><a href="http://www.phyllisewen.com/" target="_blank">Phyllis Ewen</a>, a mixed media artist whose pieces are also dimensional, and the dimensional prints of <a href="http://www.debraolin.com/" target="_blank">Debra Olin</a>.</li>
<li>Painter/printmakers <a href="http://www.heddisiebel.com/HeddiSiebel/Heddi_home.html" target="_blank">Heddi Siebel</a>, <a href="http://www.randygarber.com/" target="_blank">Randy Garber</a>, <a href="http://janarabas.com/" target="_blank">Jan Arabas</a>, <a href="http://wendyprellwitz.com/" target="_blank">Wendy Prellwitz</a>, and Boriana Kantcheva, <a href="http://agassiz.org/2010/06/faculty-nancy-popper/" target="_blank">Nancy Popper</a>, and <a href="http://lauratangusso.com/" target="_blank">Laura Tangusso</a>.</li>
<li>Book artists <a href="http://www.deborahdavidson.net/index.htm" target="_blank">Deborah Davidson</a> and <a href="http://agassiz.org/2010/06/faculty-barbara-fletcher/" target="_self">Barbara Fletcher</a>.</li>
<li>The very different relief prints of <a href="http://www.anniesilverman.biz/" target="_blank">Annie Silverman</a> and <a href="http://www.adrianrodriguez.ws/" target="_blank">Adrian Rodriquez</a>.</li>
<li>Well-known painters <a href="http://www.melalyman.com/" target="_blank">Mela Lyman</a>, <a href="http://beamodisettstudio.com/home.html" target="_blank">Bea Modisett</a>, and <a href="http://agassiz.org/2009/10/raul-gonzalez-teacher/" target="_blank">Raul Gonzalez</a>.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>The opening reception will be held on on Monday September 13 from 2:30 to 6:30 PM.</strong> Tour the newly constructed Maud Morgan Arts Center, enjoy light refreshments, meet the artists, and learn about the program of classes and events being offered.</p>

<p>Volunteers are needed to help research the details of thirty places of interest, with each person responsible for five.  Our goal is to eventually create a booklet/brochure designed and illustrated by local artists that would also be for sale.</p>

Our popular out-of-school time program for children entering kindergarten through fifth grade will begin on <strong>Wednesday, September 8th for 1-5th grades</strong> and <strong>Monday, September 13th for </strong><strong>Kindergarten</strong>.</p>

Daily choices offered by our afterschool teaching staff include arts and crafts, science, cooking, outside and gym activities, and games.  Children may also sign up for classes with our specialist teachers.  Specialist offerings for this fall include:<br />
Mondays:     Taekwondo (K-2 grade)<br />
Tuesdays:     Dance with Sunny Hitt<br />
Wednesdays:     Sports Club and Cooking with Kids<br />
Thursdays:     The Agassiz Players (Drama Club) with Danny Bolton<br />
Fridays:     Taekwondo (both K-2 and 3-5 grade)<br />
Monday to Thursday:     Individual piano or cello lessons with Sarvi Moshfegh</p>
<p><strong>NEW: Maud Morgan Arts Classes</strong><br />
New this year, each child will get to choose one specialized art class per year from our new <a href="http://agassiz.org/maud-morgan-visual-arts-center-programming/" target="_self">Maud Morgan Arts</a> offerings. This class will be included in the afterschool tuition. Details will follow soon.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The U.S. Small Business Administration has declared  the severe storms and flooding of July 10, 2010 that affected much of Eastern Middlesex County a disaster. This declaration allows eligible parties to apply for low interest loans to recover from physical damage and/or economic injury.</p>

<p>The Home Improvement Program at Homeowners Rehab  has available affordable financing, free construction, and project management for those who qualify to repair their flood damaged homes.</p>

Owen O&#8217;Riordan and Eric Breen from the Engineering Division, as well as Kelly Dunn of <a href="http://www.cambridgema.gov/TheWorks/" target="_blank">DPW</a> Community Relations and Jeya Niranjan from the Sewer Division, will be present to answer questions.  Come join the discussion!</p>
