The show will take place in the Sacramento St. Gallery and will be open for viewing Monday, April 14th through Wednesday, April 30th.
Please come under the sea with us, as the preschool presents OCEAN LIFE!

May 2006 - Children’s Day Celebration
Prepared by Preschool Director Michelle Quinlan
On May 5th, Sacramento Street Preschool celebrated Children's Day. Children's Day (Kodomo no hi) is a national holiday in Japan. The children made Carp (Koi) windsocks that represent strength. This holiday celebrates good health and happiness for children and allows them to express their thankfulness to their parents for the love and care they have received. The children had a wonderful time coloring windsocks and flying them outside.
March 2006 -A Preschool Lunar New Year
Prepared by Preschool Director Michelle Quinlan
On February 2nd, the Preschool celebrated the Japanese holiday Setsubun, a lunar “New Year’s Eve”. The most common custom associated with Setsubun is the scattering/throwing of beans to chase away the bad.
After Sacramento Preschool children constructed their Oni masks, they wore them outside to toss soybeans off the front porch with the help of Director Michelle Quinlan who led them in declaring, “Fuku wa uchi! Oni wa soto!” Good luck in and devil out, or, as Michelle explained to the pre-schoolers, “In with the good luck, out with the yucky luck.”
Afterwards, they followed the custom of eating the number of roasted soybeans corresponding to their ages, which is said to bring good fortune!
