Community Construction Update

This week there will be two initial steps in the construction process for the Maud Morgan Visual Arts Center:
1. Demolition of the carriage house will begin this Wednesday, October 7th at approximately 8:00 am. It will take two days, and the contractor expects the carriage house to come down quickly, with the removal of debris and foundation to take the rest of the time. There will be trucks in and out of the driveway. Preschool students will be walking to the Sacramento Field playground for daily outdoor time.
2. On Friday, October 9th or Monday, October 12th, the construction company will be creating the water and sewer service for the new building. This construction is at the street/sidewalk and will be disruptive for about 3-4 days. Since the curb area will be dug up, there will be no parking in that vicinity and Kindergarten Afterschool teachers and children will walk on the other side of the street from the Baldwin School, cross the street and walk up the ramp side of the building.
Please let me know if you have any questions about this initial phase of construction. It is our goal to keep families well informed and assure you that the safety and comfort of the children is our primary focus as we make this exciting step towards the creation of the art center.
