Afterschool Pickles, newsletter of Agassiz Baldwin Afterschool, is a bi-monthly (every two months)  publication that features the latest goings-on at afterschool.  See below for a sampler of activities.  To read more, download Pickles from the Kindergarten Afterschool and 1st-5th Grade Afterschool Program pages.

Drama with Jen…
Hello ABC Community! My name is Jennifer Vento and I am the Drama Specialist at ABC. Last month, we began by working with stage movement that included human sculpture and tableaux. We also worked on creating sound scapes to accompany stories we read.

Dance with Sunny…
This is an exciting autumn for our Agassiz dancers! We explored storytelling through movement, and in November the dancers will get a chance to make masks cast from their own faces in the Indonesian Mask Dance class.

Cooking with Rachel…
Rachel & Rachael is a cooking choice offered to all ages. The name was given by a fifth grade student, inspired by the Rachael Ray and ours truly Rachel Laine, fourth & fifth grade teacher. This semester’s theme will follow our Zucchini Cafe, locally and seasonal fruits/vegetables. Students always leave Rachel& Rachael informed about our foods and satisfied, for healthy cooking is our choice.

Science Club with Cyrus…
This fall every Thursday the Agassiz Afterschool students will have a choice to participate in the Environmental Science and Experiments Club. The goals of the club include increasing student’s interest and awareness for the environment and environmental sciences through interactive hands on experiments. So far, students have participated in plant dissections and various experiments demonstrating capillary action. Ultimately students will have the opportunity to create their own sustainable ecosystems that require little to zero maintenance.
