After a hiatus, the Maud Morgan Prize, which recognizes the work of local, women artists, has been reinstated by the Boston Museum of Fine Arts (MFA). Named for the late artist Maud Morgan (1903-1999), the award was first given in 1993. In addition to reinstating the award, the MFA has increased the prize from $5,000 to $10,000 annually.
The 2011 recipient of the Maud Morgan Prize is Wendy Jacob, a Cambridge-based artist. To learn more, please read this article published by the Boston Globe on July 12, 2011: http://bo.st/maud_morgan_award.
