Exercising As You Age

Not all exercises are created equal for YOUR body. Ask your doctor what to avoid based on your medical history, talk to friends about what they do to stay in shape, experiment with different exercises, work with a personal trainer (who has worked with older people) in the early stages of changing your exercise routine, buddy up with a friend to help stay motivated, take things slow, remember to include balance exercises, and choose something you like to do. Increasing flexibility, strength, endurance, and balance make it easier for you to do daily tasks on your own. It’s never too late to start.Source: Silver Sneakers; Ask Dr Joe, YouTube, National Institute on Aging at NIH
