Sophie Mark-Ng, Interim Adult Arts Program Coordinator
My name is Sophie Mark-Ng (she/her/hers) and I am a lifelong resident of Cambridge and Somerville. I grew up in Cambridge, before making a quick detour to St Paul, MN to complete my BFA at Macalester College with a major in American Studies and minor in Studio Art, and then settling back in Somerville after graduation. Prior to accepting the position at MLBCC, I spent the past four years as a community organizer in Boston Chinatown. There, I worked primarily with low income workers, elderly residents, and new immigrants in the Chinese community to better their quality of life through civic participation. I am passionate about building community and fighting for equity in all aspects of life, from work and housing to the arts. Outside of work, I enjoy ceramics, taking care of my many plants, cooking and eating new foods, and biking around the city.
