The Fay Chandler Gallery is proud to present “Creativity Is Alive!”, jewelry, ceramics, photography, and drawing from Cambridge Rindge & Latin School (CRLS.) The art department at CRLS strives for excellence in instruction. Offerings are varied and provide both a solid grounding in the visual arts and scaffolding in all areas to reach a high degree of competence in several visual art disciplines.

Show dates: January 23 – March 2, 2012
Opening reception: Thursday, January 26, 2012 from 6:00–8:00 PM
Gallery hours: 10 AM-5 PM
This show is free and everyone is invited

Work on view will include photographs by students in classes taught by Debi Milligan and Archy LaSalle; ceramic pieces from a class taught by John Gould; drawings from the Foundations of Art: Self-Portraits class taught by Elizabeth Menges; and jewelry created by students of Bianca Hegre.

Ms. Menges says about her class, β€œAll portraits were drawn by students in graphite from photograph or mirror. This was the most challenging project for them because it involved a high level of technical skill and forced them to draw what they saw instead of using the symbols in their head. This amount of analysis and close observation helped them notice the beautiful eccentricities of each of their faces, and created a new level of comfort with themselves and their drawing abilities.”
