Fort-Agassiz-kids-with-toolAgassiz Baldwin Community is the recipient of a grant from the Cambridge Agassiz Harvard (CAH) Fund to support Fort Agassiz, a new play structure in the back yard of 20 Sacramento Street designed by students at Maud Morgan Arts.

Under the guidance of architect/teacher Wendy Prellwitz, middle school age students created a model that they presented to the ABC Board Directors and Children’s Program staff. ABC put forward funding to have the playhouse framed by Highland Construction, after which another group of students, taught by Matt Neuman, installed a donated slide, building ladders, handrails, and sidewalls. You can find photos from both classes on our Flickr feed.

The $5,000 grant from the CAH Fund will help ABC to complete the structure with a roof and design elements.

Come to our Community Play Day on Saturday, June 16th from 1 to 4 PM to check out the fort for yourself!  Stay for the dedication of Fort Agassiz at 3 PM, and enjoy a wide variety of activities all day.
