“Brushing” Scam

Submitted by on July 10, 2018 – 3:39 pmNo Comment
Amazon is investigating reports of customers receiving items they did not order. It’s an international online scheme that allows vendors to rate their own merchandise. It’s called “brushing” and real people and their addresses are used to unload items that weren’t ordered by the recipient. Sometimes several shipments of the same item are delivered. Brushing causes confusion and is a time-consuming hassle. If you suspect brushing report it to Amazon so they can figure out what’s happening and try to track down the culprits. Although not charged for unwanted shipments, recipients have to donate the stuff. A woman in Pennsylvania received multiple boxes of hair ties and another in Arizona received so many boxes it took up needed space in her apartment.
