9th Annual Participatory Budgeting
The City of Cambridge has launched the 9th cycle of Participatory Budgeting (PB9) and is seeking ideas from the community on how to spend $1 million on one-time capital projects to improve Cambridge. The Idea Collection phase will be open until July 31, 2022.

Participatory Budgeting is a democratic process in which community members directly decide how to spend part of the City’s capital budget. After the public submits ideas in June and July, PB Delegates will research project ideas and develop the final proposals that will be presented for a community vote in December 2022. All Cambridge residents age 12 and older will be able to participate in this voting process which will be available online and in-person at several Cambridge locations during the voting period December 1-11, 2022.

The City’s goal is to involve all Cambridge community members, especially underrepresented communities on how the City of Cambridge can be improved. Because of this, we are trying to get as many ideas, volunteers, and diverse perspectives involved in our process as possible.

Winning projects from past PB cycles have included youth center upgrades, home essentials for newly housed residents, solar panels for the Main Library, laundry access in public schools, and many others!

To submit a PB idea, community members can:
Visit: https://pb.cambridgema.gov/
Call (617) 349-4270
Drop them off in the white drop box behind City Hall
Mail them to City of Cambridge Budget Office, 795 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge MA 02139

Anyone can submit a PB Idea, the idea just needs to be about Cambridge.

Cambridge residents interested in volunteering as PB Delegates can do so by visiting https://pb.cambridgema.gov/volunteer2.
