Join us for a special Baldwin Neighborhood Council (BNC) meeting on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at 7:30 PM in-person at the Baldwin School, 85 Oxford St.

In 2023, 50 women over the age of 55 traveled together from Boston to South Africa to participate in the first South African Women’s Grannies International Soccer Tournament. Baldwin neighborhood residents Cynthia Smith and Laura Wernick were among the participants. 

In this presentation, Cynthia and Laura will talk about the tournament, how it came to be, and the extraordinary women who participated. In addition to the tournament, they will share about their travels, which included a safari and visits to two small communities along the way. Cynthia and Laura will also talk about the challenges that so many South Africans face and the joy and friendship that was extended to them and their teammates despite those challenges.
